I don’t see how hard it is to understand. We pay for an Xbox Live subscription to play online with other people – like in Halo, Gears of War and anything else. With PlayStation Network you don’t pay to play online.

Instead you’re paying for discounted items and for games that you can only play when you have a subscription. If you’re not into that then that’s cool – I’m not into it either but that’s not the purpose of this rant.

Now if you’re not into that then you’re not really missing out on anything. You can still play online, you still get demos and PSN titles the same time as everyone else (unlike XBL which delays it for Silver members) and you will still get access to discounted items each week. The only similarity between the two services is that you’re handing over money to use them – and that is all.

If Sony had announced that they were going to charge for online play then you can write an article comparing the pros and cons between the two services. But until the “features” are actually similar then don’t bother fueling the fanboy fire that you gooses are choosing to do.
